Frequently Asked Questions:

When did this site start?
This site officially started on December 19th 2004.

Is it against the law to write or stamp my bills with "trackyourcash.com"?
The law defines illegal defacement as defacement that renders bills unfit to be reissued. In my opinion, writing or stamping "trackyourcash.com" neatly across the borders on the back side of bill hardly renders it "unfit to be reissued".

None of my bills are seeing any "Hits". What can I do to increase my chances?
Although we do not encourage people to write on their money, we have heard that a great way to get your bills recognized is to clearly write or stamp trackyourcash.com along the border on the back side of the bill.

Example:

I have a bill with a '*' before or after the serial number. What does that mean?
The star before or after the serial number means the bill is a replacement note that was issued to take the place of a defective note that was discovered. Using the * (SHIFT+8) key will get it into the system. Since it's too cost-prohibitive to reissue the same serial number, it's easier to print up a bunch of star notes and then use them to fill the stack once the defects are pulled out. Most star notes don't command a premium unless they are uncirculated, and/or have a real interesting serial number.

Can I delete a bill that I entered wrong?
Yes, as long as it doesn't have any "Hits". Go to "My Bills" and then select "Delete" next to the bill you want to remove. If you need to delete a bill with hits, please email us with the bill details.

Who funds this site?
The funds generated from people clicking the banner ads help pay for the hardware, software, and bandwidth costs it takes to keep the site running. While it would be nice to not run this site at a loss, the purpose of trackyourcash.com is to have a place where people can have fun seeing where their hard earned cash goes.
